Some of the most meaningful documents are signed in the hardest moments — at a hospital bedside, in a care facility, or during hospice. If your family is facing one of these times, please know you don't have to navigate the paperwork alone. We come to you, we move gently, and we treat everyone in the room with the respect and warmth they deserve. This is more than a service to us; it's a chance to bring a little calm to a difficult day.
We come to the bedside
We travel to hospitals, skilled nursing and care facilities, hospice settings, and private homes across Portland Metro and Clark County, WA. We arrive prepared and unobtrusive, working quietly around the care your loved one is receiving. There's no need to move anyone or wait for a better day — we bring the notary appointment to the room, at whatever pace feels right.
Documents we handle in these settings
In hospital and care settings, the documents are often the ones that carry the most weight:
- Powers of attorney — so a trusted person can make financial or personal decisions.
- Healthcare and advance directives — recording wishes for medical care and naming a decision-maker.
- Other time-sensitive documents that a family or care team needs handled promptly.
Whatever the document, we approach it the same way: carefully, calmly, and with an understanding of how much it means.
What we need from the signer
For any notarization, the signer must be aware and able to communicate two things: their willingness to sign, and a basic understanding of what they're signing. We'll speak with them gently to confirm this — never with pressure, and always at their pace. If a signer is heavily medicated, unresponsive, or unable to communicate, we're not able to notarize, and we'll explain that with care. We know that can be hard to hear, and we'll help you think through next steps.
Need a notary at a bedside today?
Call us and we'll do our best to be there quickly, same-day when possible. We'll confirm your exact total when you book.
Identification — and what to do if there's none
Normally we verify identity with a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. In a hospital, that ID is often at home, in a purse no one can find, or simply not on hand. That's very common, and it doesn't have to stop the process. When valid ID isn't available, credible witnesses can sometimes confirm the signer's identity instead. Just tell us the situation when you call, and we'll help you plan the right path.
Handling sensitive timing
We understand these requests rarely come with much notice. A family may need a power of attorney in place before a procedure, or a directive signed while there's still a clear window to do so. We take that urgency seriously and accommodate same-day appointments whenever possible. When you call, tell us what's happening and when you need us, and we'll do everything we can to be there in time.
A steady presence when it matters
More than anything, we hope to be a reassuring presence — someone who walks in calm, treats your loved one with dignity, and quietly takes one worry off your plate. Your family's most important documents deserve to be handled with precision, warmth, and the kind of attention this moment calls for. Whenever you need us, we're here as a trusted partner, not just a service provider.
